Zacatecas, Zac.- The European Organization for Nuclear Research or CERN for its French acronym is the most important research center in the world, its thousands of researchers are dedicated to trying to discover the origins of the universe and of life itself.

More than 12,000 scientists from all over the world work at CERN who are dedicated to research in particle physics and José Luis Vázquez Minjares is the first teacher from Zacatecas who had the opportunity to travel to Geneva, Switzerland to attend a course on the subject:

“That center is very famous because it is where they practically discovered the god particle and where the largest Hadron Collider is, it measures approximately 27 kilometers.”

In addition to the Higgs Boson, CERN has made great contributions to humanity such as the World Wide Web and technologies that are currently used in medicine, such as MRI machines and X-rays.

“It is studying or developing state-of-the-art technology, it has to be very focused on what is particle physics. There is so much scientific development that takes place there, that in reality we already see many of the applications in our hands, but years later. ”

José Vazquez mentions that after having lived this experience, he returns to Zacatecas with a lot of work and with the intention of promoting scientific dissemination and promoting in his students and colleagues the completion of doctorates and specializations in physics, engineering or chemistry:

“I think that something at the cultural level and that has to be promoted in students is «fight for your dreams» (…) I dedicate myself to science, physics, mathematics; there are students who are very good in these subjects, There are students who don’t, but there’s no problem, it doesn’t mean you have to be good at everything, find what you’re good at.”

In addition to being passionate about physics and science, Professor Vázquez is also a versatile musician in various projects, so his intention is to help young people follow their dreams, no matter what field it is:

“Most of my students know how to play an instrument, they know how to write, they know how to read, the artistic area here is also highly developed and it’s just growing, continuing to build your dreams and I think that’s my task.”

Although he was selected for this course in Europe, José Luis Vazquez had to travel with his own resources, since in his own words: “these are opportunities that cannot be missed”, so thanks to this, he assures, he lived one of the best experiences of your life.
