Videos began circulating on social media showing an alleged assault on a female driver, reportedly carried out by Jaime Castillo, head of the Youth Secretariat of Morena’s State Executive Committee in Zacatecas.

The incident allegedly took place on the night of Wednesday, June 24, while dozens of fans were celebrating Mexico’s national soccer team’s victory in the Historic Center of Zacatecas.

The videos show the party official, along with several other people, beginning to rock a black car that was driving through the streets of the state capital—a “tradition” that has resulted in multiple injuries in other parts of the country.

As the driver found herself surrounded by fans, she accelerated, nearly hitting people who were surrounding the vehicle. Although many stepped aside, Jaime Castillo lunged toward the driver’s window and punched the woman.

No one present intervened, while the victim simply continued driving and left the scene. However, after the alleged attacker was identified, social media erupted with criticism.

Who Is the Morena Leader Accused of Assaulting a Woman?

The youth leader identified as responsible for the alleged assault was Jaime Castillo, now the former head of Morena’s Youth Secretariat in Zacatecas.

In a statement, the State Council of the Fourth Transformation (4T) said that the young man’s conduct does not represent the party’s principles or values. As a result, he was removed from his position.

“Therefore, we inform you that we will initiate the corresponding procedures before the appropriate internal bodies so that, in accordance with our founding documents and respecting due process, his separation from the position may be determined,” the statement said.

According to information shared on social media, Jaime Castillo allegedly served as a legislative adviser to state representative Lyndiana Bugarín Cortés.

As of 2025, Castillo appeared in public legislative records as a deputy assistant in the Zacatecas State Legislature, where he reportedly earned a salary of 20,000 pesos, according to the Legislature’s Public Summary.

Has a Criminal Complaint Been Filed Against the Morena Leader for the Assault?

It is unknown whether the assaulted driver filed a formal complaint with the Public Prosecutor’s Office regarding the events of the night of June 24. So far, authorities have not released any information about the legal status of the case.
