Restoration and rehabilitation of facades in the historic center formally begins

Representing Governor David Monreal Ávila, the Secretary General of the Government, Rodrigo Reyes Mugüerza, and the Secretary of Public Works, Mildret Montes Inchaurregui, officially launched the rehabilitation and restoration of building facades in the historic center this Tuesday.

Both officials toured the downtown area and inspected the ongoing work on facades along Hidalgo Avenue, at the Ciudadela del Arte (Citadel of Art), and at the former San Agustín Church.

At the official launch, Secretary General of the Government Rodrigo Reyes Mugüerza announced that, at the direction of Governor David Monreal Ávila, 428 facades will be rehabilitated and preserved.

The goal, explained the official responsible for internal affairs, is to conserve and improve the urban landscape of the capital city.

A budget of 15.8 million pesos has been allocated for the implementation of the Ciudad Progreso (City of Progress) Program.

These works are being carried out within the framework of the Progress Agenda and in celebration of the 40th Zacatecas Cultural Festival, explained Reyes Mugüerza.

The facade rehabilitation and conservation work includes actions such as the removal of microflora from the quarry stone, the removal of deteriorated paint, cleaning of the quarry stone, replacement of damaged quarry stone pieces, removal of obsolete cables, restoration of ironwork, application of paint, and extensive interventions to protect cornices.
