A man was arrested in Zacatecas by the State Attorney General’s Office (FGJEZ) as the alleged perpetrator of the femicide of a 12-year-old girl, after investigations established the identity of the probable perpetrator.

According to an official statement from the FGJEZ, the events came to light last Thursday, August 28, when the Zacatecas Attorney General’s Office learned of the death of a person admitted to the Zacatecas State General Hospital.

When investigators arrived at the hospital, they reported that the girl was a 12-year-old girl who had been murdered and had bruises on various parts of her body, evidence detected during the initial physical examination.

This situation triggered the intervention of the Zacatecas Gender Prosecutor’s Office, which took charge of the case given the nature of the femicide.

After conducting the ministerial proceedings and obtaining expert opinions, authorities were able to establish that the cause of death was intentional, ruling out the initial version of death due to natural causes.

The progress of the investigation in Zacatecas allowed the Public Prosecutor’s Office to identify the alleged murderer, which led to the arrest warrant for femicide in Zacatecas.

The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Zacatecas did not provide details on the identity of the detainee or the circumstances of the femicide, maintaining the confidentiality of the file while the criminal proceedings continue.

This case adds to the statistics of femicides in Zacatecas, where authorities maintain specialized operations against gender-based violence.
