A bee attack in the community of Noria del Cerro, in General Pánfilo Natera, left two people injured and two horses dead.
The Municipal Coordination of Civil Protection and Firefighters of the Municipality of General Pánfilo Natera reported that the bees had taken refuge in some tires. However, they did not specify why the bees began attacking the injured people. The victims were treated in the same Zacatecas community, and after an assessment by the authorities, it was determined that transfer to regional hospitals was not necessary. They also reported that two horses had died from bee stings.
Recently, Civil Protection has also responded to reports of bee attacks in the communities of El Saucito and El Tule, where these insects have stung residents.
Why are bee attacks dangerous?
Bee attacks may seem uncommon, but they actually pose a real danger, especially if they are a swarm.
Although bees are essential for pollination and ecosystem balance, they can also be aggressive if they feel threatened or if someone invades their territory. Furthermore, during an attack, bees don’t sting alone; they release a pheromone that alerts others, causing dozens or even hundreds of them to attack at the same time.

How can I avoid a bee attack?
To avoid these accidents, it is important not to disturb the hives or attempt to move them on your own. If you see a swarm in a tree, in your home, or on the street, calmly move away and report the location to Civil Protection or the fire department.
Also, avoid wearing strong perfumes or brightly colored clothing when you’re outdoors, as these can attract them. If a bee lands on you, don’t shoo it away immediately; it’s best to remain calm and let it leave on its own.
