Saltillo Mayor Javier Díaz González announced that authorities from all three levels of government will step up patrols and surveillance along the border between Coahuila and Zacatecas. This measure is part of a strategy to prevent criminal groups from entering the state following recent outbreaks of violence in the neighboring region.
The mayor explained that there is ongoing coordination among the Municipal Police, state security agencies, and the Mexican Army to maintain a presence at strategic points along the border between the two states, while also strengthening security within the municipality itself.
He emphasized that the goal is to preserve peace and stability in Saltillo and prevent the violence affecting other regions from reaching the Coahuila capital.
Javier Díaz reported holding a working meeting with the commander of the Sixth Military Zone, General Juan Carlos Quiroz; the Commissioner for Security and Citizen Protection, Miguel Garza; and representatives from various security agencies. During the meeting, they agreed to intensify operational coordination and joint patrols to bolster surveillance both within the city and along the borders with other states.
