On Sunday, August 31, the Zacatecas capital will host a historic Guinness World Record attempt during the traditional celebration of the Morismas de Bracho. According to the Ministry of Tourism (Secturz), Guinness World Records officials will be present to evaluate whether the event meets the requirements for inclusion on the world list.

The goal is to gather 20,000 people along Hidalgo Avenue and up to Juan de Tolosa Street in a pre-established parade, which will last approximately 45 minutes and will be supervised by a certified auditor. Although there will be no direct financial benefit from obtaining the recognition, local authorities believe that the international prestige would be a source of pride for this historic performance, considered the largest of its kind in the world.

Regarding the measures prohibiting alcohol consumption during the religious festival, Le Roy Barragán Ocampo, head of Secturz, stated that this provision “is a good thing” and that the tradition should be preserved. He also noted that he has suggested to the state governor, David Monreal Ávila, that he install stands so that attendees can enjoy the performance more comfortably.
