The expansion works on the Zacatecas-Ahualulco Highway were inaugurated this Thursday, marking the start of operations of a modern road that replaces the old road that for years posed a risk to travelers in the region. The 14.8-kilometer project includes a double lane construction, shoulders, high-quality asphalt, drainage works, and signage.
With an investment of approximately 500 million pesos, this new infrastructure seeks to improve connectivity between Ahualulco and the Altiplano region with the rest of the state. In addition to offering greater safety, the highway will reduce travel times and facilitate access to rural, agricultural, and industrial areas.
During the event, construction of the “La Parada” vehicular bridge was also launched, and the new Route 63 of the Mi Bus transportation system was presented. This new public transportation service will connect Ahualulco with the capital of San Luis Potosí, offering a more accessible and economical route for the region’s residents.
The start of these works responds to a growing need to improve mobility in the Altiplano and is part of a broader plan to modernize the state’s road infrastructure.
