David Monreal, governor of Zacatecas, confirmed that with the support of the government of San Luis Potosí this festival will be brought to his state for the first time

As part of a cultural and economic exchange between the states of San Luis Potosí and Zacatecas, the maximum festivity of the Day of the Dead in the Huasteca of Potosí, known as Xantolo, will be taken in a cultural exhibition to the neighboring entity.

The governor of this state, David Monreal, thanked the state president of San Luis Potosí, Ricardo Gallardo Cardona, for allowing this cultural exchange. In this way, he pointed out that the exhibition of this tradition in Zacatecas territory will serve as an international platform for Xantolo to be shown to the world.

In the same way, he pointed out, Zacatecas will have the opportunity to enjoy Xantolo for the first time, showing that it will not only bring new knowledge regarding the traditions of Huasteca, but will also boost the economic benefits of Zacatecas.

Last year, in the capital of Potosí, the “Xantolo en tu Ciudad” was held where through a parade, various troupes of the Huasteca of Potosí participated from Morales on Avenida Carranza to the Historic Center of Potosí, showing the dance as they passed, costumes and traditions of their culture.

This activity, as Gallardo Cardona highlighted a year ago, left an economic impact of more than 600 million pesos and attracted tourists from neighboring states. After last year’s parade, he promised that this event would return to the capital in 2023 and that it would be bigger.
