Zacatecas will share its culture and gastronomy with Oaxaca from March 24 to 26

In the cultural field, a tribute will be made to the musician and composer Manuel M. Ponce, who is credited with the authorship of “Las Mañanitas”

Oaxaca de Juárez.- The State Secretary of Tourism (SECTUR) and the Directorate of Culture of the municipality of Fresnillo, in the state of Zacatecas, announced a cultural exchange to disseminate the tourist, gastronomic and cultural wealth of that city located in the region from the center-north of our country.

In a press conference, the Undersecretary of Tourist Operation of the SECTUR Oaxaca, Fernanda Schmidt, informed that Verde Antequera will welcome a group of 80 people from that city, who from March 24 to 26 will share their cultural and gastronomic wealth.

Before Reynaldo Beache Pérez, director of Culture of the Municipality of Fresnillo, Zacatecas, and Ross Aguilar, general director of the Oaxacan Artistic Collective and Ruta del Arte, the state official stressed that Oaxacan society will be able to taste dishes such as the “Caldo de rata de campo” ” made with tomato, onion and spices, to which vegetables such as chayote, pumpkin, carrot, cabbage and celery are added; some presentations include ground chiles and corn.

Likewise, the golden gordas, which are served in various stews such as mole, shredded meat or potatoes accompanied with a rich sauce, cream, cabbage or split lettuce and sliced tomato.


Fernanda Schmidt announced that in the cultural field there will be a tribute to the musician and composer Manuel M. Ponce, creator of melodies such as “Estrellita” and who is credited with the authorship of “Las Mañanitas” and who was born in 1882 in Fresnillo, Zacatecas.

She pointed out that this agreement is based on the transversal axis of Interculturality to build actions with a social focus, with the aim of promoting tourism development.

She specified that within the framework of this agreement there will be a folkloric meeting at the Bakal Cultural Center, located at 217 Abasolo Street in the Historic Center of the city, between a delegation from Fresnillo, Zacatecas with municipalities from Villa de Zaachila, San Sebastian Tutla and Santa Maria El Tule.

On his occasion, Beache Pérez, director of Culture of the Municipality of Fresnillo, Zacatecas thanked the formalization of the cultural exchange agreement with the Government of the State of Oaxaca.
