Zacatecas Cultural Festival 2026 kicks off successfully despite unfulfilled commitments from producers

Despite the fact that the initial commitments made to the bean producers were not fulfilled by their leaders, the State Government managed to achieve two objectives simultaneously: to continue the dialogue process and to ensure that the start of the Zacatecas Cultural Festival 2026 proceeded without interruption.

The festival’s opening was a success. Zacatecas families were able to access the cultural program, enjoy the public spaces, and participate in the planned activities. This outcome was not accidental: it was the result of negotiations conducted in good faith and the political will of the state government, which listened to and addressed their demands.

The producers’ leaders publicly promised at a press conference that they would fulfill their commitments, but this did not materialize. However, this did not prevent the public from enjoying the scheduled cultural offerings, thanks to the ongoing efforts between both parties.

To remove the machinery, the agreement was to establish a dialogue with federal authorities from the Food for Well-being program, which is in charge of this initiative. The State Government remains committed to pressing the Federal Government to address the legitimate demands of Zacatecas’ agricultural sector, particularly regarding the Bean Collection Program.

The true agreement was not merely to free up a public space, but to establish an ongoing dialogue where the demands of Zacatecas’ agricultural sector are heard, considered, and presented to the appropriate federal authorities.

It should be noted that, despite the producers’ failure to uphold the agreements made, the concert held tonight in the Plaza de Armas, with the presence of protesters and agricultural implements on the plaza, demonstrates that in Zacatecas there is respect for pluralism and the right to free expression, as well as the right to culture for Zacatecans and visitors.

Thus, the thousands of attendees in the Plaza de Armas enjoyed the greatest hits of the legendary group Revisiting Creedence Clearwater Revival, such as “Fortunate Song,” “Green River,” and “Have You Ever Seen the Rain?”
