During his visit to Durango to promote the thirty-ninth edition of the Zacatecas Cultural Festival, the official emphasized that the state is currently in a very favorable situation in terms of security. He even noted that Zacatecas is the state that has most reduced high-impact crimes.
He emphasized that the city of Zacatecas is among the 10 safest in the country and that, at the state level, it ranks ninth in security.
Barragán Ocampo acknowledged that in previous years they faced difficult times and that, due to the proximity of the two states, high levels of insecurity affected safe transit between Durango and Zacatecas. However, he assured that the situation has changed and that the highway is safe.
“The highway is in excellent condition; we have had no incidents, especially involving tourists. For the festivals we have organized, visitors have arrived by road without problems. In addition, large operations are implemented, especially during these holidays, with the participation of the National Guard and the Army,” the official stated.
Therefore, he invited Durango residents to attend the Zacatecas Cultural Festival during Holy Week and Easter Week, where nearly 300 events for all ages will be held.
Finally, he emphasized that in more than a year and a half, no incidents have been reported on the roads, especially on the Durango-Zacatecas route.
